Rie Palkovic was born and raised in Okinawa. Her aesthetics are a mixture of Japanese design and western art training. Her art is based on the duel cultures in which she grew up on  Okinawa. The focus on the flora and fauna of an area is her way to become part of the environment. The merging of east and west can be seen in the single subject, use of space, and simplified color. Her hope is for you, too, to feel a part of the environment through the plants and animals shown.
